  • INS on the Disability Action Plan

    Any plan to help disabled people has to be of benefit to someone in need. We have summarised many points of this plan but feel many important points are not covered. Many charities want cost of living and disabled rights addressed and we agree with them. We must keep an open mind and at least read what is presented and on the table. Improving lives of people that are marred by illness and unseen illnesses like Mental Health should be in first place. But on the flip of a coin, will we see yet another manifesto promise just benefiting the government maybe?

    At INS one of the things, we are looking into disabled people’s rights to be given legal aid and to be able to use the Equality Act 2010. In our research we found not many solicitors handled any other cases than the employment part of this act. How can a person go into a litigation case with great evidence these days with problems itself round the cost of living and life in general. Yes, we are protected against things but affording to take action is another thing. So that’s what we be campaigning about.

    I mean we will get a better idea in the coming months what will happen. It could be a wolf in sheep’s clothing but we hope the action plan will benefit disabled households in some way buts that’s also something the government will have to prove.
